Did you know that 2.9 million people worldwide are living with multiple sclerosis (MS)?

This World MS Day, we’re advocating for better MS diagnosis, enhanced training for healthcare professionals, and more research to improve treatments and clinical advancements.

MS affects the central nervous system, leading to symptoms like blurred vision, weak limbs, fatigue, and more. Early diagnosis is crucial to managing symptoms and improving quality of life.

Together, we can build informed, supportive communities and systems that empower people living with MS.

Did you know that 1 in 100 people will experience schizophrenia in their lifetime?

Yet, many of us still carry misconceptions about it. It’s time to set the record straight.

Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave. It can manifest as a range of symptoms, including hallucinations, delusions, disorganised thinking and speech and a lack of motivation or emotional expression.

Schizophrenia is often misunderstood, with myths like people with it being violent or having multiple personalities. The truth? People with schizophrenia are more likely to be victims of violence, not the other way around. And it doesn’t mean someone has split personalities – the term comes from the Greek word for “fractured mind.”

Symptoms like psychosis, where it’s hard to tell what’s real, are common, but with the right support, many people go on to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Let’s break the stigma together and talk about it openly. 💬

Maximising Impact, Strengthening Purpose: Rachel Carey at the SILSDA Maximising Impact Conference 2025

Last week, our founder Rachel Carey attended the SILSDA Maximising Impact Conference 2025 in Perth — a powerful two-day event focused on improving outcomes across Specialist Disability Accommodation and Supported Independent Living.

From workforce development to funding reform and quality improvement, the conference brought together some of the brightest minds in the sector to share insights, raise standards, and challenge the status quo.

Reflecting on the experience, Rachel shared:

“The NDIS was built on the principle of choice and control — but that promise is only realised when providers step up and lead with purpose. This conference was a powerful reminder that impactful, ethical SDA/SIL delivery is possible when we stay participant-focused, informed, and courageous.”

At Allara, our values of integrity, heart, and impact are more than words — they guide everything we do. Rachel’s presence at SILSDA reinforces our commitment to walking alongside providers who want to create real, lasting change for the people they support.
